Tom Calvert (born June 20 1981), is a music producer and multimedia artist from London. As a music producer, he has mainly worked under the alias "Redinho" (a made up word which means "little red" - Calvert's childhood nickname was "Red", and "inho" is the Portuguese diminuitive).
As a musician Calvert has released numerous solo records under various aliases, including a full length album Redinho (2014) on Glaswegian label Numbers, and as a solo artist he has played at major festivals, including Sonar, SXSW, and Primavera.
Calvert has produced for a range of artists, including major label artists Kimbra and Bonzai, and the transatlantic rap group Swet Shop Boys, featuring Riz Ahmed and Heems. Calvert produced the Swet Shop Boys debut album Cashmere (2016) which was the number one rap album on iTunes and charted on Billboard, and the follow up EP Sufi La (2017), both of which were released on Customs, a label the group co-founded.
Calvert has also worked as the musical director for Hudson Mohawke’s live band which toured Europe, US, and Japan from 2015-2016 on the Lantern album campaign.
In 2017, under his own name, Calvert released a beat tape called Zanbor with an accompanying film made by filmmaker and producer Abdullah Al-wali, and exhibited this collaboration at Arts Catalyst in London.
In early 2018, under Redinho, Calvert released his track "Mmm Mmm” featuring Vula which premiered on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show as the "Hottest Record In The World.". He also released "Square One” featuring Grammy award-winning artist Kimbra (in 2016 Calvert had produced Kimbra’s track “Sweet Relief” which was released on Warner). Both “Mmm Mmm” and “Square One” were released on a new imprint that Calvert co-formed called Roya.
In 2019 Calvert released “Snake Skin Boots” with Californian rapper Blimes. The track premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show as the “Hottest Record In The World.”
